An uneven number of stills is unusual in a distillery; Macduff has five of the smallest copper pot stills in Scotland – two wash stills and three spirit stills. A further curiosity is the unique set-up of the spirit still lyne arms, which ascend very slightly before joining the horizontal condensers; gently coaxing extra character from the spirit. The distillery is set up for a light, fruity style that’s replete with apple tones and nutty notes.
